What RateRight is
RateRight is an independent project that publishes free calculators and plain-language guides for freelancers. The tools help you work out the hourly rate you need, price a project, plan how much to set aside for tax, and convert a salary into a freelance rate.
Why it exists
Many freelancers set their prices by guessing, by copying a competitor, or by dividing a salary by 2,080 hours. That usually leads to charging too little, because it ignores taxes, business costs, time off and the unpaid hours spent finding clients and doing admin. RateRight shows the actual arithmetic so you can see where a number comes from and adjust it for your own situation.

How the tools work
All calculations run inside your browser. The numbers you type into a calculator are not sent to us. The formulas are explained on the How we calculate page, so you can check them.
